Human Made Machine values your privacy. We have prepared this Privacy Policy to explain how we collect, use, protect, and disclose information and data when you use the Survey Machine website ("Site") or platform's services ("Services"). This Privacy Policy also explains your choices for managing your information preferences, including opting out of certain uses of your information. By accessing or using the Site or Services, whether using a mobile device or otherwise, you consent to this Privacy Policy.
What is SurveyMachine?
SurveyMachine (“SurveyMachine”) is a service offered to media publishers (“publishers”) who would like to understand the performance of their ads. SurveyMachine is a product of Human Made Machine Limited. Should you choose to participate in our surveys we will handle your data in a responsible and transparent manner. Human Made Machine does share the survey results with its clients so that they can determine and improve the effectiveness of their ads. Human Made Machine may also use aggregated data (i.e., the data of a number of users combined together so that no one user can be identified) in reports it publishes about online and mobile advertising.
Privacy Policy
Our data privacy policy describes how we handle personal data. We want you to understand your rights in regards to this data. We will also detail how and why we collect, use, and share this data. We consider the protection of your privacy to be of paramount importance and observe all relevant legal requirements.
Participation in our surveys is optional. By entering your response and choosing to participate in our surveys you are consenting to the use of your data in the manner described in this policy.
The Data We Collect
When you visit the SurveyMachine website we will drop a cookie on your browser to understand how you interact with our site and your preferences.
When you participate in our surveys we collect survey response data from you in regards to your knowledge of the publisher ad you have seen and the brands advertised on them.
In addition to survey responses given by you, we automatically drop a 3rd party cookie on your web browser to understand if you have seen the publisher ad using a beacon, or pixel, on their ad. This helps us to understand if and where you have seen an ad on their site/app.
If you are viewing our survey on a mobile app we will capture your mobile device advertising ID (ad ID) such as Google Android’s AAID or iPhone’s IDFA.
Your IP address may be logged by our web servers for the sole purpose of protecting our systems against misuse and to help resolve technical issues. Your IP address is not used for ad tracking purposes.
We will never request additional personally identifiable information (PII) from you, e.g. first and last names, dates of birth, email addresses, telephone numbers, account details etc.
We do not collect or associate sensitive survey data with your cookie/ad ID including but not limited to, race, ethnicity, medical information, sexual orientation or religious beliefs.
Our Use of Cookies/Mobile Advertising IDs
Cookies are small files on your phone/computer that your browser uses to store data on behalf of a website. Only the website that wrote the cookie can read the cookie. Your browser sends these cookies back to us every time you visit the publisher site and see an ad so we can recognise your computer or mobile device and invite you to participate in our survey.
Mobile advertising IDs are unique identifiers associated to your device which are passed to us and publishers when you view the publisher ads on their app. Similarly to cookies we use them to recognise you as someone who has visited the app and seen ads on the app. Android and Apple iOS use different advertising IDs.
SurveyMachine uses cookies and mobile device advertising IDs to store an auto-generated, unique identifier of you and possibly other information such as language. We only use cookies and ad IDs for essential operation of the website and survey and for fraud prevention. If cookies or ad IDs are disabled/cleared or reset whilst visiting our site or during a survey, it may no longer operate as expected.
Opting Out
If you would like to remove our ability to identify you as someone who has seen the publisher ad or our survey you can delete your cookies through your browser settings. More information on how you can manage and delete your cookies can be found here
If you saw our survey or the publisher ad on a mobile app you can limit the tracking of your device ad ID for Google Android and iOS using the instructions here https://support.google.com/ads and here https://support.apple.com respectively.
The publisher ad is delivered to you through the Google Ad Manager platform. If you choose to opt out of the original publisher ad, please see the Google Ad Manager opt-out details here https://www.google.com/ads/preferences.
How We Will Use the Data
SurveyMachine will collect your responses to this survey to conduct statistical research. We use IDs stored in your cookie to link each response to a respondent and to understand which respondents have seen which ads. Data of all respondents is provided in aggregate to the publisher for this research purpose.
Your IP address may be used to help protect against survey misuse, identify the city/region you’re in to localise content such as news/weather, and to resolve technical issues. It may be passed on to a limited number of vetted 3rd party processors for the sole purpose of supporting the processing of the data. E.g. logging errors to improve our service. SurveyMachine remains the controllers of the data.
How We Store Your Data
We store data in your cookies for a maximum of 12-months. You can also delete cookies through your browser settings or reset your mobile ad IDs as detailed in the ‘Opting out’ section of this policy.
We limit the storage of IP address for a maximum period of 12 months. You can also request we delete or anonymise your IP as detailed in the ‘Your rights’ section of this policy.
